A thriller about a pair of CIA agents on the trail of certain Weapons of Mass Destruction and a foreign correspondent following their mission. It is 2003, and U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Matt Damon) and his team of inspectors have been dispatched by their commanders to find weapons believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but instead stumble upon an elaborate cover-up that subverts the purpose of their mission.
Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. At this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.
Inspired by Imperial Life in the Emerald City. US release: 12th march 2010.
PRO REVIEWS
----------------------------------------
"Bourne goes epic. A wham-bam actioner, but its pointed political subtext ensures Damon and Greengrass deliver their most provocative mission yet. (...) Rating: **** (out of five)" (Mark Dinning: Empire) ----------------------------------------
"Vivid and convincingly realistic (...) Greengrass' high-voltage action drama does a better job of defining where the U.S. went hopelessly wrong on Iraq than it does in creating a plausible suspense scenario." (Todd McCarthy: Variety) ----------------------------------------
"Too little and too late? Maybe. But even in this Bourne Zone, Damon and Greengrass haven't shirked their duty to enlighten and entertain. (...) Rating: **1/2 (out of four)" (Peter Travers: Rolling Stone) ----------------------------------------
"An energetic, frenzied thriller -- Paul Greengrass-style -- set in Iraq in the chaotic post-invasion days. (...) It's a remarkable film." (Kirk Honeycutt: The Hollywood Reporter) ----------------------------------------
"Yes, the film is fiction, employs farfetched coincidences and improbably places one man at the center of all the action. It is a thriller, not a documentary. (...) The bottom line is: This is one hell of a thriller. (...) Rating: **** (out of four)" (Roger Ebert: Chicago Sun-Times) ----------------------------------------
