Synopsis: The kind widow Hobbs was very sad on her birthday as she celebrates with her only companion, Percival, the pig. All she ever wanted was a child, she explains to a beggar who comes to her house for food. The beggar promptly turns into the Marvellous Magician and gives her a special seed which blooms into a tiny girl, Thumbelina. Percival becomes increasingly jealous of Thumbelina and arranges for a bullfrog to kidnap her. Thumbelina befriend many different creatures on her journey through the swamp until she is at last returned to her home and the widow Hobbs.
