- Synopsis
- Ana Ozores, the Regent (Emma Penella), is torn between her passion for the handsome Álvaro Mesía (Nigel Davenport) and her religious scruples, fears closely guarded by the ambitious magistrate of the cathedral (Keith Baxter), the jealous guardian of souls that are both her passion and her prey. A battle presumably lost for the wife of the regent (Adolfo Marsillach) in a stale provincial capital, Vetusta (Oviedo), at the end of the 19th century... Adapted from the novel of the same name by Leopoldo Alas, "Clarín".
