SYNOPSIS/PLOT Twelve-year old Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is viciously bullied by his classmates and neglected by his divorcing parents. Achingly lonely, Owen spends his days plotting revenge on his middle school tormentors and his evenings spying on the other inhabitants of his apartment complex. His only friend is his new neighbor Abby (Chloe Moretz), an eerily self-possessed young girl who lives next door with her silent father (Richard Jenkins). A frail, troubled child about Owens's age, Abby emerges from her heavily curtained apartment only at night and always barefoot, seemingly immune to the bitter winter elements. Recognizing a fellow outcast, Owen opens up to her and before long, the two have formed a unique bond. When a string of grisly murders puts the town on high alert, Abby's father disappears, and the terrified girl is left to fend for herself. But her increasingly bizarre behavior leads the imaginative Owen to suspect she's hiding an unthinkable secret.
PRO REVIEWS ----------------------------------------
"Reeves understands what made the first film so eerie and effective, and here the same things work again (...) Those hoping to see a "vampire movie" will be surprised by a good film (...) Rating: ***1/2 (out of four)" (Roger Ebert: Chicago Sun-Times)
----------------------------------------
The scariest, creepiest and most elegantly filmed horror movie I've seen in years (...) One reason “Let Me In” works in ways most horror movies don’t is that we actually care about the characters (...) Rating: ***1/2 (out of four) (Lou Lumenick: New York Post)
----------------------------------------
"This unsettling, effective American remake really gets under the skin as one of the year's most powerful thrillers" (Michael Rechtshaffen: The Hollywood Reporter)
----------------------------------------
"The surprise of Let Me In is that director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) hasn't just remade the Swedish cult vampire film "Let the Right One In" into a more fluid and visceral movie. He's made it more dangerous" (Owen Gleiberman: Entertainment Weekly)
----------------------------------------
"Despite being about vampires, Let Me In can feel chillingly real (...) another quick and effective remake of a foreign hit that makes adult vampire tales Twilight and True Blood look like child's play" (Scott Bowles: USA Today)
