- Synopsis
- A wacky comedy tinged with violence, MECANICA NACIONAL centers around an important car race. As aficionados drive in from all over the country, the highways become more dangerous and chaotic than the racetrack itself. Massive gridlock, reminiscent of that in R.E.M.'s landmark "Everybody Hurts" video, cause frustration and anger. Traffic violations accrue, violent ensues, and the elderly succumb to various ailments. Though it sounds serious, the film is rife with hysterical characters and situations and adds up to a riotous time.
