Allen's masterpiece is still perhaps his sharpest and wittiest work to date (though some would argue that belongs to Manhattan). In this ultimate of crowd pleasers, Allen adroitly puts his finger on the social milieu of the '70s as he explores the ups and downs of modern relationships. Oscar winner Diane Keaton is at her best as Woody's star-crossed lover. A delightful blend of uproarious one-liners, delicious comic schtick, intuitive dialogue, smart performances and penetrating observations on today's mores, Annie Hall is pure enchantment.
