- Synopsis
- Ostensibly a romantic comedy, the true star of BAR EL CHINO is the local hangout in which the principle characters gather. Jorge (Boy Olmi) is a fledgling filmmaker who has an ongoing affair with El Chino. The regulars even nicknamed him after the place. He has often recorded their comings and going on film in an effort to capture the magic of the place. Into this unusual and dynamic location passes Martina (Jimena La Torre), a documentary filmmaker in search of subject matter. She falls in love with El Chino, the atmosphere, the tango that takes place within it, and the life that it exudes. She and Jorge meet, and, bound by their mutual love for El Chino, decide to collaborate and finish the project together. Though their union has terrific creative potential, their ongoing love relationship is another story.
