- What do the well-to-do Védrineses have to do with a bunch of unpolished Gypsies like the Pittuitis? Nothing surely ... except that Théo Védrines, the son of the well-known publisher, has knocked up Zita, a Gypsy girl. Pittuiti sees red and decides to demand an eye for an eye.
