- Synopsis
- Film critic Rüdiger Suchsland's debut film focuses on Robert Wiene's expressionist horror film classic El gabinete del Dr. Caligari (1920) while examining the historic Weimar Republic (1918-1933), inspired by celebrated German sociologist Siegfried Kracauer's influential book 'From Caligari to Hitler' (1947). What effects do cinema and society have upon each other? Suchland's film is about the reflections of Weimar society in cinema and its visible 'collective spirit'(Kracauer).
