Frank leads a solitary life as the owner of a mannequin store. At first glance, he seems like the kind of guy who wouldn’t harm a fly. However, there is something profoundly disturbing in his look; a dark, perverse secret that will reemerge following his encounter with Anna, a young artist who turns to him for help with an exhibit. Alexandre Aja and his partner in mischief Gregory Levasseur were in charge of writing and sponsoring this remake of William Lustig’s cult classic, one of the most violent slasher movies of the eighties. A challenge subscribed to by Elijah Wood, who gives his angelical image a radical spin as he steps into the shoes of a depraved psychopath.

"Slasher-movie fans need not be put off by the stylized camera work (...), this is down and dirty genre filmmaking, and the various slaughters (...) and other atrocities are no less gruesome because of the highfalutin approach" (Megan Lehmann: The Hollywood Reporter) ----------------------------------------
"This merciless work of anti-entertainment is arguably admirable for being as disturbingly disgusting as it wants to be" (Rob Nelson: Variety) ----------------------------------------
"It's the kind of inferior remake that also invites questions about the original's cult status (...) Rating: * (out of five)" (Guy Lodge: Time Out) ----------------------------------------
