- Il capitano Montgomery Brown, detto Ringo, torna a casa dopo la guerra civile e subito uccide due uomini che gli stavano per sparare da sotto la tavola. Le cose sono molto cambiate dalla sua partenza poichè e stato scoperto l'oro e questo ha attirato una banda di malviventi capeggiata da Fuentes che ha ucciso suo padre e si è impadronita del paese. Ringo si traveste allora da messicano e trova lavoro presso Miosotis. Vede allora molte cose: sua moglie che vive con Fuentes, una bambina con sua moglie ed assiste perfino al suo funerale.
