After the events of the first film, a new, more powerful entity endangers life on Earth: Unicron, the Devourer of Worlds. Unicron is a planet-sized Transformer with unlimited powers who feeds on other planets to survive. Unicron turns the corpse of the deceased Megatron and recreates him as his herald, Galvatron, who now possesses unlimited cosmic powers. This angers Starscream, who took over as the leader of the Decepticons after Megatron's death. Now, Sam, Mikaela and the Autobots must find the only thing that can stop Unicron: the Autobot Matrix of Leadership.
PRO REVIEWS
----------------------------------------
"With machines that are impressively more lifelike, and characters that are more and more like machines, 'Transformers 2' takes the franchise to a vastly superior level of artificial intelligence." (Jordan Mintzer: Variety) ----------------------------------------
"A nonstop whirl of flying, battling and crashing machinery. (...) Fan boys will no doubt love it, but for the uninitiated it's loud, tedious and, at 147 minutes, way too long." (Ray Bennett: The Hollywood Reporter) ----------------------------------------
"A horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. (...) Rating: * (out of four)." (Roger Ebert: Chicago Sun-Times) ----------------------------------------
"Cretinous 'Transformers 2' (...) Despite the tediousness of his stories and inanity of his visual ideas, he [Bay] always manages to keep you laughing and shaking your head in disbelief at the outlandishness of his cinematic spectacles," (Manohla Dargis: The New York Times) ----------------------------------------
"Fast, deafening, and dumb, the movie is total nonsense and will make a fortune. (...) Rating: *1/2 (out of four)" (Ty Burr: Boston Globe) ----------------------------------------
"Revenge" is in-your-face, ear-splitting and unrelenting. It's easy to walk away feeling like you've spent 2 1/2 hours in the mad, wild hydraulic embrace of a car compactor -- exhilarating or excruciating, depending on your point of view." (Betsy Sharkey: Los Angeles Times) ----------------------------------------
"This sequel certainly looks amazing with an onslaught of explosive visual effects, a grandiose plot, exotic locations, a generous dose of humour, (...) A giant frenetic spectacle that worships excess." (Louise Keller: Urbancinefile) ----------------------------------------
