- Synopsis
- "Famous Fred" is a cat cartoon film made in the UK. The central role of Fred is voiced by the comedian Lenny Henry. He's a secret superstar cat who performs by singing for the neighborhood cats. It had a run time of 30 minutes and has an appeal to audiences of under about 12 years of age. The animated short musical was made in 1996 and was directed by Joanna Quinn. The writers were: Posy Simmonds (book), Joanna Quinn (written by).
Famous Fred was nominated for an Oscar in 1997. It is the story of a cat who can sing and it mirrors, it seems, the life of Elvis Presley in that Fred lets himself go and becomes fat!
